Short answer
For teaching in Western Australia, the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) assesses your overseas teacher education for registration. An AITSL skills assessment made for migration does not replace the Board's decision.

Who decides
TRBWA determines teacher qualification equivalence and professional registration for Western Australia; federal skilled-migration authorities decide any separate visa qualification assessment.

Check this before paying
Review TRBWA's Overseas Qualified Teachers and Qualifications pages, including the provisional registration and optional qualification-advice paths, before paying for an external evaluation.

When this applies
TRBWA commonly looks for a teacher-training programme, sufficient higher education study and documented supervised school teaching practice. English language, character and other registration requirements are assessed separately; particular experience may assist but cannot substitute for all teacher education.

Which document
Teaching degree and academic records, evidence of supervised teaching practice, relevant certified translation and the separate identity, language and character documents specified by TRBWA.

Avoid the wrong purchase
Do not buy an AITSL migration skills assessment assuming it awards Western Australian registration. TRBWA may consider an AITSL outcome but makes its own academic and registration assessment.

What this does not do
Western Australia only. It does not confer registration in other Australian states, an AITSL migration assessment or immigration eligibility.

AITSL migration assessment and TRBWA registration decide different things
The Australian Government distinguishes skills assessments for migration from statutory professional registration. TRBWA expressly states it may note a teacher's AITSL migration assessment but must make its own decision about qualification equivalence for a Western Australian teaching licence.

Supervised teaching practice is separate evidence
TRBWA describes typical higher-education and supervised teaching-practice thresholds and requests degree certificates, transcripts and practicum evidence. A teacher-training qualification remains necessary even where teaching experience can also be considered.

DiploWay teaching registration checklist
Write Western Australia as the intended registration jurisdiction rather than assuming Australia has one teacher board.
Record your initial teacher education award, all relevant qualifications and supervised practice dates, then compare with TRBWA's own checklist.
