When this applies

Formal professional recognition is not required for non-regulated work. A useful academic comparison and any migration requirement are separate questions.

If this service is needed

EUR 208 — ZAB Statement of Comparability for a foreign university degree, only if needed for the recipient; not professional recognition or a DAB fee.

Statement of Comparability fees and cancellation

Ask what the academic statement is meant to explain

ZAB describes a comparison of a foreign university degree with an education level in Germany. Employers may request it, including for public-sector applications. Its Digital Seal can verify authenticity; that does not turn document verification into the employer’s acceptance or hiring decision.

Check the named fee and cancellation terms

The checked ZAB fee for a Statement of Comparability is EUR 208. Financial assistance must be requested before the application. Cancellation can lead to retention of up to 50 percent of the fee depending on processing status; do not assume a full refund. Other document and professional processes have separate costs.

DAB covers a different qualification type

ZAB’s DAB is for non-academic vocational training abroad and checks completion, recognition in the training country and a full-time-equivalent duration of at least two years. It is not issued for university degrees. ZAB explicitly directs Turkish Önlisans degrees to the academic Statement of Comparability rather than DAB. This product distinction is not a personal immigration decision.

DiploWay preparation: identify the reason before the product

Ask whether the unresolved question concerns degree level, authenticity, hiring or a separate official permission. Write down the recipient and qualification type before paying. Do not buy two differently named ZAB products just because both concern qualifications.
