Short answer
For registered nursing in New York, follow NYSED's foreign-school graduate RN Pathway #5 and verify credentials to NYSED using its accepted routes.

Who decides
New York State Education Department (NYSED) reviews the education and RN licence application; a credentials verification service does not grant the licence.

When this applies
The foreign-nursing-school Pathway #5 applies to graduates educated outside the US and its territories. Prescribed coursework and applicable NCLEX-RN steps are distinct from verifying a diploma.

Which document
NYSED accepts foreign nursing education verification through its specified TruMerit service or directly from the foreign school using Form 2F and official records; other applicable licensing records are separate.

Avoid the wrong purchase
TruMerit's New York credential verification service is expressly not mandatory; do not buy it before checking whether the direct-school route is workable.

What this does not do
This is New York RN licensure, not an all-US nursing licence or a guarantee the foreign programme will be acceptable. Other states and nursing categories have different rules.

Your next official step
Review RN Pathway #5 and arrange the accepted school/verification records for NYSED rather than buying a general academic report.

The licensing board, not the verification service, makes the determination
NYSED requires a New York licence and registration for practice as an RN. Foreign-school graduates have a separate RN Pathway #5; the state reviews their education and application before the examination route can proceed. This is different from a general credential comparison purchased for an employer.

Two routes for education verification
NYSED describes either its named TruMerit Credential Verification Service for New York State or certification directly from the foreign nursing school through Form 2F, including official transcripts and any required translation. If previously licensed outside the US, a separate foreign-licence verification may be needed. NYSED explicitly says the TruMerit service is not obligatory.
DiploWay preparation checklist
Write down the exact target state and whether the intended licence is RN, LPN or another nursing category. A New York RN guide should not be assumed to describe California, Texas or another board's requirements.
Ask your school and prior regulator whether they can send official verification directly under the New York forms, and compare this with the state-named third-party verification route before purchasing a service.
Treat licence application charges, the NCLEX examination, verification services and preparatory coursework as distinct steps; none of them by itself guarantees a licence.
