Short answer
DUO assesses the teaching authorisation for the intended role. Indefinite teaching and conditional temporary service are different routes.

Who decides
DUO; it may consult Nuffic or the authority in the qualification country.

Check this before paying
Check the exact teaching occupation and recognition form before ordering an evaluation.
Open the primary source ↗When this applies
Teacher education and home-country authorisation must match the role sought. Temporary service is conditional; it is not a shortcut for every foreign diploma.

Which document
The relevant DUO form requests education and employment chronology, qualifications and supporting records; follow the selected route’s current list.
Avoid the wrong purchase
Both recognition forms list an IDW evaluation as optional if already held. It is not a compulsory preliminary purchase.
What this does not do
Recognition for one role or international setting is not every teaching authorisation; this guide does not decide an individual application.

Your next official step
Use DUO’s teacher guidance and choose the form for the appropriate qualification route.

Match the authorisation to the school role
The forms distinguish primary and special needs roles, secondary subjects and vocational/adult teaching. The EU form also asks about international education. A generic degree-level comparison cannot answer that role-specific question.

Check the qualified temporary-service conditions
DUO’s temporary-service explanation specifies an EU residence permit, an EEA/Swiss-issued diploma and matching home-country teaching authorisation. Its non-EEA/Swiss qualification explanation permits recognition applications instead. Confirm the current route with DUO rather than inferring it from the intended work duration alone.

Language and translation are different evidence questions
For relevant non-EEA/Swiss primary or special needs applications, the form asks which teaching-language requirement is satisfied. Read DUO’s linked language conditions for the intended setting; English-medium international recognition is not blanket regular-school authorisation.
The attached EU and non-EU forms require certified translations of listed records outside Dutch, English or German. Do not apply IDW’s broader document-language list to a DUO application; special exceptions must be checked in the current guidance.

DiploWay before sending your teaching records
List the age group, subject and school setting next to the exact teaching authorisation requested. Ask the awarding institution which records establish that authorisation, not just the degree level.
Use the appropriate current form and ask DUO about any unresolved evidence condition. Upload or send personal records only to the authority’s prescribed channel; DiploWay does not collect them.
