DOCUMENT DECISION

Netherlands: IDW evaluation, BIG registration and DUO teaching recognition

Identify the recipient before ordering: an academic level comparison, a nursing registration and a teaching authorisation solve different problems.

An academic level report stops before the receiving decision

IDW gives advisory level comparisons. A university decides admission, while an employer can ask for a work-related evaluation. Check the actual recipient before treating a personal report as necessary.

Nursing recognition includes a separate permission question

BIG’s designated-diploma procedure can combine recognition and registration. Other routes leave registration conditions to be completed after recognition. In the competence procedure, necessary Nuffic/SBB assessment is arranged by BIG; it is not an automatic separate purchase by the applicant.

Teaching forms do not make an IDW order compulsory

DUO’s EU and non-EU recognition forms label an existing IDW evaluation optional. They ask instead for records tied to the requested teaching occupation and authorisation. This does not mean the other required supporting evidence is optional.

A Dutch academic title is another DUO service

DUO’s academic-title application is not a diploma-evaluation product. Do not select it merely because a teaching or healthcare role needs professional recognition. The intended decision should identify the service.

DiploWay recipient-first document map

Make one line for each request: recipient, purpose, exact report or authorisation, and who arranges it. Start with the admissions office, employer or professional authority you actually need.

Ask whether you must obtain the document yourself or the authority will commission advice. Keep translation, language proficiency and register entry as separate unresolved questions. Avoid buying several similarly named services before confirming what each would resolve.
