Choose the professional board, not just a degree label

The protected physiotherapist title belongs to CORU’s physiotherapy register. Its board is also the authority for qualifications awarded outside Ireland.

Recognition and registration can overlap in one application

CORU’s current system handles both processes. The linked January 2025 guidance allows registration components to progress while qualification assessment is underway. A recognition decision is still distinct from the final register entry. If recognition was completed in the old system, use CORU’s continuation instructions rather than starting another recognition application.

Check the fast track against your qualification

The CAS list names specific physiotherapy award types and qualification countries. Citizenship alone does not establish a match. The January 2025 guidance also identifies a separate European Professional Card route for eligible EU/EEA/Swiss-trained physiotherapists with EU rights; do not infer eligibility from residence alone.

Use the May 2026 language policy

Applications submitted from 8 May 2026 use the current language policy. It includes conditional alternatives to testing and a physiotherapy-specific OET option. The older application PDF cannot establish today’s language exemption.

DiploWay document preparation questions

Ask your training institution which records identify supervised clinical placements, not just modules and grades. Keep a list of who must confirm each item before requesting certified copies.

Record the exact board, programme, application route and unresolved question. Check the official fee for that route; this guide does not quote a uniform fee or completion time. Send records only through CORU’s prescribed process, never to DiploWay.
