Short answer
Check the Teaching Council route and the assessment type.
Who decides
The Teaching Council decides registration.
Check this before paying
Read the overseas-teacher requirements first.
Open the primary source ↗When this applies
The general overseas route uses Teaching IQA; current Australian registration may allow a separate pathway.
Which document
Teaching IQA and the Council’s supporting evidence, as applicable.
Avoid the wrong purchase
A general migration comparison is not automatically the teaching assessment.
What this does not do
Assessment or payment does not guarantee registration.
Your next official step
Confirm the Council’s route before purchasing an assessment.
Continue to the official guidance ↗Academic assessment and teacher registration answer different questions
The general route compares the teaching qualification against New Zealand initial teacher education requirements. The Council considers the registration application. The page describes discretionary consideration and a separate Australian-registered-teacher pathway; do not assume the general route applies to every case.
DiploWay preparation checklist
Start with the intended teaching sector and your actual professional-registration background. Record the assessment’s exact name and the receiving authority; “IQA” by itself is not a sufficiently precise shopping list.
Keep the academic teaching award, practicum information, professional-standing evidence and teaching experience separate. Ask which records the institution or professional regulator can supply and which need to be prepared for the official application.
If the assessment and registration processes appear to ask different questions, clarify the purpose of each before paying. A qualification comparison useful for immigration or salary purposes should not be assumed to resolve every teacher-registration requirement. The official service pages and Council remain the next step.
